Gustavo and Otávio Pandolfo
São Paulo, Brazil, 1974
OSGEMEOS move fluently between languages, combining muralism and traditional pictorial practices to produce an ever-expanding dreamscape. A São Paulo-based duo, twins Otávio and Gustavo Pandolfo have included the visual repertoire of graffiti into contemporary art since the mid-90s, developing works on various media, from paintings to site-specific installations. Their characters blend identities of Brazilian folklore with figures from the São Paulo hip-hop world in fantastic allegories of social life in large cities. In their trajectory, OSGEMEOS have intimately associated their pictorial practice with a graphic solution for the urban landscape’s homogeneity.
Among their recent solo exhibitions are OSGEMEOS: Endless Story, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C., EUA (2024) OSGEMEOS: Nossos Segredos, CCBB Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2022); When the leaves turn to yellow, CAC Malaga, Malaga, Spain (2022); Segredos, MON – Museu Oscar Niemeyer, Curitiba, Brazil (2021); Portal, Lehman Maupin, New York, USA (2020); Segredos, Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil (2020); You are my guest, Fosun Foundation, Shanghai, China (2020); Julio Le Parc & OSGEMEOS, Carpintaria, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2019) and In Between, Mattress Factory, Pittsburgh, USA(2018).
